چکیده:
This study aimed to investigate the stakeholders’ requirements for developing an effective Microbiology English for Specific Purposes (ESP) textbook. Two research groups participated: 50 female undergraduate microbiology students aged 18-24 with prior English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction, and 5 microbiology instructor specialists (4 females, 1 male). Participants were selected via convenience sampling from a single university. Two researcher-designed questionnaires examined viewpoints on content, format, and language considerations, based on expert interviews. Internal reliability via Cronbach’s alpha was 0.79-0.81. Expert reviews established content and face validity. Results showed students and instructors prioritized comprehensive core concept coverage, hands-on application, and comprehension aids. Perspectives largely converged. The findings informed microbiology textbook design by emphasizing consideration of both learner and instructor inputs to create context-sensitive resources optimizing disciplinary mastery, as revealed through validated methods surveying stakeholder requirements for effective ESP material development.
